When it comes to acne skin care treatment products, there are an overwhelming number to choose from. They range in price from free (home remedies) to several hundred dollars for a dermatologist prescribed protocol. So how can you possibly decide which one to use? Well, here's a quick guide to acne skin care treatment products, and which ones work.

-Decide on a budget first. Even if it is guaranteed to work, if it is out of your price range, you shouldn't buy it. The problem is, if you don't form a price ceiling first, you'll just keep spending. What's the point in being acne free if you're broke?

- Double check to make sure you're not allergic to anything. I know it sounds like common sense, but how many times have you actually read the ingredients on acne medicine? If the product you're using causes more marks, you might be allergic, so be careful and track the ingredients.

- Speaking of ingredients, read them! Identical products might be sold under a brand and generic label (like cereal), but with a huge price difference. So if you find a product you like or want to try, read the ingredients and see if you can't find the same thing for cheaper. It's actually a pretty fun game.

- Most chemical products contain benzoyl peroxide. If it is a higher concentration than 10%, skip that product. It will dry out your skin so much it won't be worth the acne it gets rid of. Please note that benzoyl peroxide isn't bad, you just want to be careful about how much there is in the product.
